Bengaluru : Providing access to education through scholarships is increasingly important, as you assist students in realizing their dreams and reaching their fullest potentials. Your gifts to unrestricted scholarships not only provide financial support for the students’ educations, but they are also an investment in their futures.
Danish Educational Trust ( a unit of Shariff Foundation ) was established in March 2006 with the sole objective of identifying talented youth from economically backward class and taking care of their basic economic needs so that they can pursue their higher education and excel in life. This year Danish educational Trust grants scholarships for 167 poor and deserving high merit students of Karnataka state for pursuing Engineering, Medicine, Law, Journalism, Veterinary Sciences, Agriculture Sciences and civil services.
This year Rs. 50 Lakhs scholarship was distributed to the above merit and eligible students for the above courses by Mrs. Husna Ziaulla Sheriff, Chairperson of Danish Educational Trust along with other dignatories present at the function. The Chief Guests who were present during the scholarship programme was Dr. Salil Shetty, Former Secretary General of Amnesty International, Mr. Abdul Ahad, Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Bengaluru, Mr. T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Educations and Senior Advocate Kamal Pasha.
Addressing during the scholarship programme, T. V. Mohandas Pai, Padma Shri Awardee and current Chairman of Manipal Global Education and a former Director of Infosys said, “Education is set for massive transformation as technology is ushering in a new era in the field of learning. It’s easy to criticise the education system. What we must understand is that there is a huge scale in the system. There are over 3.5 crore students in India, which is the largest in the world and it will only double in the next ten years. None of the education systems in the world have been able to impart high-quality education to such a large number like ours. One thing that we can do is build good institutions so that they can impart quality education.” Mohandas Pai, meanwhile, said there is a need to improve quality of education, stopping controlling education, and opening up of the sector with transparent norms and enforcing quality standards in higher education.
Speaking to our Chief Editor B. R. Abdul Wajid, One of the Medical student who received scholarship said, ” It is a great honour and privilege to receive this scholarship, I am incredibly greatful to Danish Educational Trust for the assistance paying for my education. It is wonderful that this Trust has chosen to support the students of professional courses and I will do my best to be a good Doctor. I am very much thankful to Mrs. Husna Ziaulla Sheriff and her family for supporting us. May Almighty ALLAH bless the family of Danish Educational Trust.” said by one the Medical student who received scholarship.
