New Delhi : Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today dismissed recent allegations of his ill-health. Dismissing recent rumours on social media about his health. “I want to make it clear that I am completely healthy and do not suffer from any disease,” the Home Minister said.
Shri Amit Shah also said that some people had even posted tweets praying for his death. “I hold no grudge against people who are spreading such rumours. I want to thank them too,” Shah wrote.
The social media was abuzz with rumours and speculation surronding Shah’s health. Recent photos of Amit Shah were shared on social media with people commenting on his health and weight loss. However, the Home Minister did not respond to these speculations. “When it came to my notice, I thought to let them enjoy these imaginary stories. That is why I didn’t offer any explanation,” Amit Ji said.
Amit Shah added that “The country is fighting against COVID-19 pandemic and as the Union Home Minister of the country, I have been busy with my work and wasn’t focusing on such rumours. According to Hindu traditions, such rumours only improve the health of a person.” Hence Amit Shah requested people to abstain from “such useless talks” and urged them to focus on their work instead.
After my party workers and well wishers expressed concerns, I have to clarify that I am not suffering from any disease and I want to thank my well wishers and party workers for enquiring about my health,” Amit Shah added.
Meanwhile, BJP President J.P. Nadda termed the rumours about Shah’s health as “inhuman”. Nadda said that comments about Amit Shah’s health are “extremely condemnable and its shows mindset of those spreading them.”
BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain claimed that people behind them are “enemies of the nation”. “It’s really shameful how a handful of people are spreading rumours about the health of India’s Home Minister Amit Shah. These people are enemies of the nation who dislike leaders devoted to the motherland.” Shahnawaz Hussain tweeted.
Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Amit Shah Ji you are safe and sound and will remain so because you have to serve Maa Bharati with courage and conviction for a long time.”
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ajay Tomar said a screenshot of a fake Twitter account in Shah’s name with his photo, claiming he was suffering from a serious ailment, had gone viral on social media platforms. The suspects were detained from Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar and were being questioned. A case has been registered under sections 66(c) (punishment for identity theft) and 66(d) (cheating by personation using computer resource) of the Information Technology Act, he said.
