New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Coronavirus, since this disease has claimed four lives in India and has infected over more than 190 people in India. While India has implemented steep measures to combat the spread of the Covid-19, PM Narendra Modi urged the public to remain calm and practice all directives being issued by the government, including social distancing and good hygiene.
PM Narendra Modi in his speech during addressing to the nation, He said, “The world is passing through a huge crisis, more countries affected than World War 1 and 2. 130 crore Indians have faced the corona scare. Every Indian has tried to adopt precautionary measures. But in the past few days, it seems we have evaded the crisis. The thought that we are safe from the pandemic is not correct. We all Indians need to be satark.” PM said.
“Whenever I have asked something from you, you have never let me down. Today I am here to ask something from you. I want a few weeks from you. I want your time in the upcoming times. There’s no cure for corona globally. There are no vaccines available. In countries where corona has had a massive impact, it seems the virus exploded after the initial days. Please stay indoors over the next few weeks unless absolutely necessary.” said PM Modi.
PM Narendra Modi calls for a ‘Janata Curfew’, on this Sunday 22nd March’20 which he says would mean a curfew imposed by the people on themselves in order to prevent the spread of the disease. “On that day, at 5 pm, we will stand at our balconies, windows or doors for 5 minutes, we will show our gratitude to those maintaining essential services by ringing bells, sounding sirens, clapping or clanging utensils,” PM said.
The Prime Minister also urged that people above the age of 60 should avoid going out in the coming weeks. “Today everyone has to take a resolve to not get infected by the Covid-19 and also save others from getting Covid-19. In such a pandemic case, only one mantra works, if we are healthy, then the entire world is healthy,” PM Modi said.
“I appeal to all, not to go into panic buying to store essential commodities. Steps being taken to ensure that there is no scarcity of essential commodities,” PM Modi says.
Reiterating the prime minister’s appeal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also asked the people to take precautions, saying, “The ideas and suggestions that Modi Ji has put forth to fight COVID-19 today are very inspiring and necessary. With the mantra of ‘Hum Swasthya to Jag Swasthya’, the two main things said by the Prime Minister are resolve and moderation, the most effective way to stop this epidemic.”
